Simple Holistic Medicine Cabinet
Homeopathy can seem expensive. I don’t have a lot of cash. And honestly childhood illnesses usually fall under the categories of injuries and viruses with the occasional bacterial thrown in for good measure, so a basic medicine kit with multipurpose tools can go a long way.
Homeopathy on hand:
Band-aids- Name brand cause well some things really are good name brands.
(also good for postpartum care)
Bentonite clay: makes a great poultice for drawing out poisons like bee stings or splinters. Just mix a little with water. Leave on affected area and let dry. Wash off. Re-apply as needed.
Arnica: for pain
I use Arnica and never NSAIDS. Using Tylenol even one time affects the liver and L-glutathione production which can cause other cascades in the body. So it is for extreme needs only. Arnica usually fits the bill. It comes in a disolvable pill so even young ones can take it, and in a cream that is great for muscle pain and for headaches/general soreness.
Lavendar: Also good for everything; antibacterial and antiviral. Great for cleaning, disinfecting and when mixed with the manuka honey helps heal minor burns.
Frankincense: good overall for health and wellness. Great for diffusing to kill whatever is going around.
Vinegar/Vodka/Hydrogen Peroxide- Its my Lysol. Spray down door handles and surfaces when the nasty flu bugs are going around.
I choose to use things in my medicine cabinet that aid our bodies in fighting illness, vs taking everything away. If we can aid our bodies and they grow stronger then that is the first line of defense.
Please note, that I am not a doctor. I am a mother. I have done research and this is how I choose to live for my family. We still go to the doctor. We have still had to take antibiotics; but once in ten years of parenting. They kill and destroy everything in the gut so should be used with caution and knowledge in my opinion. But there are times when the above is not enough. My rule of thumb is always watching my child. Listless and lethargic and won’t take liquids, not peeing- go to the doctor. But if they are drinking and peeing and still playing just feeling ugh, then the above usually is enough to aid and support their bodies while fighting off the normal childhood illnesses.
